The pink memo is going out

Wear pink, er, I mean rose, tomorrow in solidarity.

Tomorrow is Gaudete Sunday. Rejoice!

This, by the way, is an ongoing joke in our parish. When it seems everyone is wearing brown on a given Sunday, for instance, we say, "I see you got the memo to wear brown today." And if one person stands out as wearing blue or red on the brown day, we say, "I see you didn't get the memo to wear brown."

Or it could be black, black and white, purple, blue, or red. It is funny how we can be in synch with our colors even without intending to! But two Sundays a year, I pretend the "pink" memo goes out. One year we actually did send a "pink" memo and took a photograph of all the pink sweaters, shirts and jackets and blouses. I think I lost that photo though in a previous hard drive crash.

My friends Barbara, Mary and I found a beautiful rose chasuble in Ottawa's Byward Market at Veronica's second hand store and bought it for our parish. The things the Roman Catholic Church threw out after Vatican II! It is just beautiful.
